Creating curriculum standards and resources that incorporate increased integration of learning across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Structures of Science disciplines applied to teaching science in grades 1-5; standards-based pedagogical strategies, techniques, and materials coordinated with basic principles of learning.
Field based experiences are intended to provide the opportunity to hypothesize and reflect upon methods and strategies explored in class, and to adapt the students' beliefs to the realities of the elementary classroom.
Students will prepare to teach one lesson and one discrepant event for their peers plus three lessons at an area elementary school. Personal reflections on teaching experiences, as well as observations from time in the elementary school setting will enable students to examine both their own teaching and that of observed teachers and peers.
